Tall Women and the North-pole…

Tall women seem to be something special in the eyes of many, perhaps even more so in men’s eyes…?

Fact remains too, that fashion models are supposed to be tall, apparently. As far as my understanding goes, 1.75 m at least. Where I come from that’s the average height, the statistical mean.

The North of Europe has them: The Netherlands and Scandinavia are famous for this. Yet, we do not all live in the region we are born and raised in.
Interestingly, small(er) women are not noticed specially in regions where tall women are the norm.

But I have lived in regions where women around 1.60 m and smaller are the norm. That can make it awkward in some cases. And one thing is certainly true:
I never go ‘unnoticed’.

It’s interesting what that kind of experience does to a person: I believe, without being a ‘VIP’, I know what it must feel like when someone is so well-known through regular media coverage they cannot go anywhere unnoticed.

I certainly cannot. Not that I blame anyone, who can help it?
I notice myself thinking now and again: “Hey, here comes some tall woman.” And then I suddenly realize she is ‘only’ as tall as I am.
That shows it: It’s not common around some parts of the world, to be tall as a woman.

I wish sometimes it was. Shopping for shoes can be a nightmare…

But being tall has advantages of course, too: When you reach for plates in the upper regions of kitchen cabinets, you will never miss… 🙃 😉
